Providing Food and Love to SWVA Students
The Lunchbox276 program provides weekend food bags to children ranging from Pre-K students as young as three through high school seniors. Each bag contains food that is child-friendly, nutritious, and easy to prepare and eat. Bags are discreetly distributed by teachers on Fridays or before long school breaks, ensuring kids have access to reliable, kid-friendly meals outside of school hours."
Since our founding, Lunchbox276 has relied entirely on donations and grants to sustain operations and feed food insecure students in our community with the help of dedicated volunteers including local churches, businesses, community groups, and student organizations from UVA-Wise. We currently pack and distribute more than 1,200 weekend food bags each week to students in Wise County, Dickenson County and the City of Norton, making Lunchbox276 the second largest backpack program west of Roanoke, VA.
We do have plans to expand our services to serve food insecure students in additional surrounding counties as funding becomes available.
