ABOUT US

Our Mission:

Our mission is to alleviate childhood hunger by providing nutritious weekend food bags to students experiencing food insecurity. We strive to ensure that every child in our community has the nourishment they need to thrive, learn, and grow, regardless of their circumstances. Through compassion, collaboration, and a commitment to serving those in need, we aim to build a brighter, healthier future for the youth in far Southwest Virginia.

Non-Profit Status:

Lunchbox276 became a 501 (3) (c) non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating childhood hunger in 2017. All donations are fully tax-deductible.

About Us:

The Lunchbox276 program provides weekend food bags to children ranging from  Pre-K students as young as three through high school seniors. Each bag contains food that is child-friendly, nutritious, and easy to prepare and eat. Bags are discreetly distributed by teachers on Fridays or before long school breaks, ensuring students have access to reliable meals outside of school hours.

Since our founding, Lunchbox276 has relied entirely on donations and grants to sustain operations and feed food insecure students in our community with the help of dedicated volunteers including local churches, businesses, community groups, and student organizations from UVA-Wise.  We currently pack and distribute more than 400 weekend food bags each week to students at five local primary, middle, and high schools.

This fall, we are preparing to expand services to reach an additional 600 students across Wise County, Dickenson County, and the City of Norton during the 2025-2026 school year.
